Children may want their own email accounts to communicate with their friends, but it is difficult to protect them from harmful information. They can receive advertisements for explicit content or viruses and there is no way to supervise them at all times. FrazzleMail works like other email clients, but it is designed for children. It filters all incoming messages, according to lists of allowed or blocked addresses. It offers advanced options as well, which can be locked with a password.

The software can be installed on any Windows powered computer, without making any configurations related to mail servers. The setup process is very easy, but you will need to make a series of initial settings yourself, to enable the program's safety features.

Before you let your child use the software, you need to associate his email address with FrazzleMail. A wizard will ask you for your own name and email address, after which you can type in the log in credentials for your child's email account and compile a list of trusted email addresses. You will have to create a password, during the same process, to lock certain features.

After completing the initial setup, your child can access the main interface. It is a lighter version of other email clients. Received and sent messages, as well as trash items are organized in a tree structure on the left side of the window. The Check button, located on the toolbar, will refresh the inbox, in case new messages are received. Your child will have access only to a few options, such as delete, reply or compose.

The software has a parent mode, which can be activated by clicking a lock icon on the toolbar. After providing the master password, new options will be made available, for making a series of general settings, adding addresses to a list of trusted or blocked items, setting up a new account for a different child, or managing existing ones. You will also find new folders, containing messages from blocked addresses and an additional outbox. You can also include addresses to one of the lists when browsing through the blocked messages.

Pros

The software offers effective parental control features. It restricts children to basic options for viewing messages, replying or composing new ones. Advanced options can be enabled only with a password, created by the parent. Children will have no trouble adapting to the interface, thanks to its large, colored buttons and clear instructions.

Cons

Some email services, like Yahoo, are not supported. FrazzleMail focuses on preventing your children from reading harmful email messages. It restricts them to trusted addresses and it provides the parents with full control over any safety feature.
